Hale Ho Aloha is located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood, overlooking downtown Honolulu. We are a short drive of 10 minutes or less from many major medical facilities and doctors’ offices clustered in the downtown area, and 20 minutes or less from the Windward side and much of residential Oahu.

Is Hale Ho Aloha conveniently located?

Hale Ho Aloha residents enjoy panoramic views of Punchbowl and downtown Honolulu from the open-air lanai of our plantation-style residence. Your loved one will enjoy fresh air and natural light, soothing interior colors and furnishings, and unique works by local artists. Designed to make our residents feel at home, Hale Ho Aloha’s true charm is evident the moment you set foot on the property.

I don’t want my loved one to sit in what feels like a sterile warehouse. What is the atmosphere at Hale Ho Aloha?

Yes, we can help coordinate transportation to the doctor’s office and back to the care residence. Hale Ho Aloha assists families in arranging transportation services with private transport companies which families pay for either directly or indirectly through Hale Ho Aloha. We understand that family members work and have demands on their time that may not allow them to accompany their loved ones to every appointment so and so we will even arrange for an escort to accompany the resident, when necessary.

Can Hale Ho Aloha help get my loved one to and from doctor’s appointments?

Part of Hale Ho Aloha’s philosophy is to involve family as often as possible. That means we'll do everything we can to accommodate your visits when they are most convenient for you. If it makes your loved one happy, we will do our best to find a way.

When can I visit my loved one?

Yes, in fact we encourage you to share meals with your loved one! You can bring in your loved one’s favorite meal – as long as it is within the dietary parameters established by the resident's doctors, of course. With a little advanced notice, we can even set up a semi-private space for dining in our main dining room or on one of our lanais.

May I have meals with my loved one? May I bring them food?

Hale Ho Aloha is a nursing facility that is full of local pride, and this is certainly reflected in our menu planning! We are always happy to hear your suggestions for local dishes or other types of food. Whenever possible, we are willing to try something new. Alternately, you can always bring your loved one’s favorite foods when you visit, although due to sanitation regulations, we can't allow residents or their families to use our kitchens themselves.

My loved one really enjoys local-style and ethnic foods. Is the kitchen able to accommodate this?

We highly encourage our more mobile residents to join in family outings! In addition, as part of Hale Ho Aloha services, we periodically plan excursions for those residents who are able to participate. Such outings may include a visit to the zoo, a park, a picnic or various forms of entertainment in the community. The outing may require an additional charge to the resident.

May I take my loved one out for an excursion?

At Hale Ho Aloha, we try to tailor the individual resident’s day to his or her particular needs established by our staff. This includes providing showers on multiple shifts, to accommodate individual preferences, and flexibility in where and when we provide other services. Mid-morning activities typically include discussion of world and local events, light exercise, games, entertainment, and religious services. Time is also set aside for appointments with doctors and visits from loved ones. After lunch, many residents like to get a bit of rest, and afternoons offer optional activities such as visits from volunteer groups, exercise therapy sessions, and special movie screenings. After an early dinner, residents enjoy quiet time for personal activities before going to bed.
